Overview The NC522SFP is an eight lane (x8) PCI Express (PCIe) 10 Gigabit network solution offering the highest bandwidth available in a ProLiant Ethernet adapter. This dual port PCI Express Gen 2 adapter supports SFP+ (Small Form-factor Pluggable) connectors, requiring either Direct Attach Cable (DAC) for copper environments, or fiber transceivers supporting SR, LR, or LRM optics plus fiber cables for fiber optic environments. The NC522SFP ships with advanced server features that ProLiant customers have come to expect, such as support for TCP checksum and segmentation (LSO) offload capability, VLAN tagging, jumbo frames, IPv6, and more. Flexible to order and install, the NC522SFP can be used in either standard or low profile slots. What's new With two 10GbE ports, the NC522SFP delivers the highest throughput of any ProLiant server adapter. The SFP+ connector cages enable ProLiant customers to deploy the NC522SFP in either copper or fiber optic enviornments. The two ports on the NC522SFP have a theoretical maximum of 40Gbps full-duplex, bi-directional throughput . Using Direct Attach Cable (DAC) available from HP, the NC522SFP runs on copper cable . Fiber optic modules and cables available from HP allow the NC522SFP to connect to SR, LR, and LRM environments . Ideal environment Ideal for... The NC522SFP is ideal for enterprise customers requiring the utmost in networking bandwidth for any of the following reasons: The best combination of high speed and low latency for virtualization and clustering Future-proofing their infrastructure for increased demands Flexibility as to the media type for future installations Mid-size customers anticipating growth and want flexibility Cable reduction by using a larger 10GbE "pipe" in their infrastructure Increasing virtualizing more and more servers Model comparison
